Wie trinkt man Whisky?
Als erstes sollte vorausgeschickt werden: Egal wie Sie Ihren Whisky gerne trinken, ob mit Eis, mit Wasser oder mit Mixern, das ist der Weg wie Sie Ihren Whisky auch weiterhin trinken sollten. Denn nur wie Sie Ihren Whisky wirklich geniessen ist wichtig!
Sollten Sie allerdings mit den verschiedenen Aromen und Noten, die ein Whisky zu bieten hat, experimentieren wollen, möchten wir einige Hinweise geben, die Ihnen ermöglichen, Whisky wie ein Profi zu verkosten:
Als erstes ist es einmal sehr wichtig, in welchem Glas Sie Ihren Whisky geniessen. Ein Whiskytumbler ist ideal, um aus Ihrem Whisky einen Long Drink zu zaubern, zum Verkosten ist er aber weniger geeignet.
Bei einem Tasting wird dem Whisky eineiges abverlangt, da wird ein Glas benötigt, dass den Tastingansprüchen in jeder Linie gerecht wird. Ein tulpenförmiges Glas mit langem Stiel oder ein Cognacglas ist hier geboten, um die Flüssigkeit schwenken zu können, ohne Küchentücher bereithalten zu müssen und die verengte Glasöffnung verhindert ein zu schnelles verfliegen der Aromen.
Nosing
Man kann sich vorstellen, dass ein Master Blender, der tagtäglich Whiskys auf ihre Qualität überprüft, seiner Gesundheit zu liebe nicht jeden einzelnen trinken kann.
Die Nase eines Profis ist so trainiert, dass sie nicht nur Charakter und oberflächliche Aromen wahrnimmt, sondern diese in kleine Nuancen zerlegt und jede Abweichnung zweifelsfrei wahrnimmt.
Sie sehen, durch das Nosing läßt sich eine Menge über einen Whisky aussagen.
Lassen Sie sich Zeit und geniessen Sie die Aromen.
Wenn Sie einen Whisky "nosen", der mit Fassstärke abgefüllt wurde, ist es sehr vorteilhaft ein wenig Wasser hinzuzugeben, um es den Aromen zu ermöglichen sich zu entfalten und auch um zu verhindern, dass Ihre Geruchssine betäubt werden. Fangen Sie langsam mit ein paar Tropfen an und fahren Sie solange fort bis Sie das Gefühl haben, dass die Aromen Ihnen sprichwörtlich entgegenfliegen. Achten Sie darauf, dass es sich um stilles weiches Wasser handelt, dass nicht gekühlt worden ist.
Nun schwenken Sie den Whisky im Glas und starten Sie Ihr Nosing.
Tasting
Wenn Sie zu Ihrem Whisky, der Fassstärke hat, noch kein Wasser hinzugegeben haben, probieren Sie einen Schluck, um zu erfahren, wie er schmeckt.
Sie werden aber wahrscheinlich feststellen, dass der hohe Alkoholgehalt kaum Möglichkeit gibt, die Aromen zu erfassen. Hier hilft ein wenig Wasser, dass am besten tropfenweise hinzugegeben wird.
Nehmen Sie vielleicht eine Pipette zur Hand, die das Dosieren einfacher macht.
Nun nehmen Sie einen Schluck und lassen Sie diesen auf der Zunge zergehen. Konzentrieren Sie sich dabei auf das was Sie offensichtlich ausmachen können.
